BringYour FAQ

The questions buyers actually ask, answered without marketing fog. If something's not here, reply to the checkout email or write hello@bringyour.ai.

Will the price actually go up from $49, or is that marketing?

Yes, the price rises as the product matures. $19 and $29 are genuinely for the first and next ten buyers — these aren't infinite inventory. Once the $49 tier is the only option, it continues to go up whenever we ship a meaningful toolkit addition. Buyers who paid $19 keep getting every future tool free; the rising price only affects future buyers.

What happens if BringYour shuts down?

Your CLI keeps working — licenses are verified with embedded ed25519 public keys, no remote check-in required. The remote MCP server at bringyour.ai/mcp would go offline, but the local portable binary works offline. Source is open enough that if we ever stopped maintaining it, buyers could fork and keep going.

What does my $19 (or $29 or $49) actually cover?

A lifetime license for everything BringYour ships now AND every tool we add to the Foundry Practitioner Toolkit later. Current capabilities:

No subscription, no auto-renew, no upsell emails.

How does the license key work?

After Stripe checkout, a signed envelope (ed25519 over your email + key + purchase timestamp) is emailed to you. Paste it into ~/.bringyour/license or set BRINGYOUR_LICENSE in your environment. The CLI verifies the signature locally; the remote MCP server verifies via the X-License-Key header. No remote phone-home, no telemetry, no account system.

Can I transfer my license to a coworker or new laptop?

Personal-use licenses are tied to an email, not a device. Move to as many machines as you own. Transferring to a different person isn't supported — each license stays with the email that purchased it.

What's the refund policy?

30-day refund on request, no questions asked, emailed to hello@bringyour.ai with the receipt's email address. Your license gets revoked on refund. After 30 days refunds are case-by-case.

Do I need a Claude/OpenAI API key to use BringYour?

Only for the bootstrap command when it drafts a new harness from your GitHub profile — that calls an LLM. migrate and install_harness don't need an API key; they're deterministic file transformations. If you don't want to configure your own key, we cover a modest hosted-key fallback per license.

What's the Foundry Practitioner Toolkit?

A bundle of tools for people who build with AI agents full-time, starting with BringYour. Every future addition ships free to anyone who paid this round — no new charge, no pro tier, no enterprise upsell. Planned next tools include a multi-harness sync daemon, a versioned agent vault with rollback, and a context-budget heatmap. Shane picks what ships next based on buyer feedback.

Who's behind BringYour?

Shane Cheek — founder of 8Bit Concepts, building autonomous agent businesses through the Foundry platform (aidevboard.com, nothumansearch.ai, 8bitconcepts.com). BringYour is the fourth Foundry property. Direct support: hello@bringyour.ai.

Is there a free trial?

The portable doctor command runs without a license — it reports what AI tools you have installed and their harness status. Enough to see the tool exists and works on your machine. The migrate, bootstrap, and remote MCP tools/call paths require a license.

What data does BringYour send anywhere?

Nothing automatic. The CLI is local-first; file transforms happen on your machine. The remote MCP server only receives what you explicitly pass as tool arguments. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting. The license check is a local signature verification — your buyer email isn't phoned home on every invocation.

How big is the company?

One person plus AI agents. The whole stack — CLI, MCP server, web site, payment pipeline, lead autoresponder, monitoring — is operated by Shane with automated agents doing the build, deploy, and maintenance work. No team, no investors, no runway clock.
